Ex-marine from Princeton sees history in far-off places

Jim Dalziel, Princeton, is a flight mechanic whose trips often mean not wandering more than 50 feet away from his plane for 65 hours straight.

His quarters on these trips are on two seats on the back of a Boeing 767 that he is responsible for keeping maintained and fueled. He stores cold weather and warm weather gear in compartments around the plane so he is prepared for every kind of destination.

35W Ramp Closures Next Week In Northern Twin Cities Metro

Additional traffic restrictions and ramp closures begin next week on southbound Interstate 35W in northern Twin Cities Metro suburbs

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists will encounter additional lane restrictions on southbound Interstate 35W between I-694 on the border of Arden Hills and New Brighton and Lake Drive in Blaine as repairs and resurfacing of the interstate continue. The following ramps and loops will be closed beginning at 4 a.m. on Sunday, June 6 and will remain closed until late Wednesday night, June 9.

“Most interesting people I talk to don’t have a straight journey,” Mike Lilja explained with a smile.

Using a model of farming called permaculture, Lilja is growing a variety of annuals and perennials on the land he has owned since 1991.

Recent startling studies about kids and computers make it even more important that we listen to educators’ advice about families’ activities this summer.  Many kids love their technology.  But lots of time on a computer does NOT produce the positive results in school that come from activities many educators are suggesting.

But can’t youngsters read and explore while they use computers and smart phones?  Yes BUT….
