To help alleviate stress and illness, many people are turning to nontraditional forms of therapy, like reiki.
According to a 2007 study by the National Center for Complementary and
Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) and the National Center for Health
Statistics, 38.3 percent of adults and 11.8 percent of children
reported using some form of non-conventional medicine. That number
jumped from 36 percent in 2002, when children weren't even included in
the study. See more in Elizabeth Nelson's Star News feature story.
The reiki hand positions treat all seven chakras in the body. Each chakra, except the crown chakra, has corresponding organs in the body. The crown chakra is related to the whole body.
