Roseville, MN – Motorists will encounter a detour on Highway 95 in Washington County as the first phase of a construction project begins at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
The project takes place between Highway 96 and Highway 97 and includes culvert work, repaving, guardrail work, the addition of one turn lane and the removal of a railroad crossing on Chestnut Street East in Stillwater.
This portion of Highway 95 will remain closed until early November 2009. A posted detour will direct motorists to Manning Ave (County Road 15) via Highways 96 and 97 and back to Highway 95. The closed roadway will be signed for local access to businesses and residences. However, Highway 95 will re-open on September 19 and 20 for the Marine Art Fair in the city of Marine on St. Croix.
This first phase of the project is expected to be substantially completed in November 2009. The second phase of the project, in the city of Stillwater, will begin in 2010.
The project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
