The ISD #299 committee appointed to look for an interim superintendent will bring its suggestion before the Caledonia School Board of Education on July 20.
The committee, made up of directors Charlie Wray, Matt Hendel and Jean Meyer are recommending that Bruce Thomas of St. Paul be offered the post. Thomas, a retired school administrator, has served as superintendent at school districts in Worthington, St. Cloud, and Wheaton, Minn.
When asked last week about the applicant, director Wray said that Thomas was "eminently qualified.
School Board Chair Naomi Fruechte, who sat in on some of the hiring committee meetings, said that Thomas had "quite a bit of experience, and good qualifications.
Directors will consider the committee's recommendation at Monday's board meeting. Even if Thomas is approved, no contract offer has been drawn up at this point, Wray said.
