That’s the way Caledonia head football Carl Fruechte explained why he requested a two-year leave of absence for the 2011 and 2012 football seasons. Fruechte, who was named Class AA Coach of the Year, led the Warriors to four Section 1AA titles in five years, three Class AA Championship games in a four-year period and back-to-back Class AA state titles in 2007 and 2008, was granted the two-year leave at the Jan. 25 school board meeting. Vikings officials are putting together a package they want the Minnesota Legislature to discuss this session. The package may include positioning the stadium in a suburb; one mentioned location is Dayton in western Hennepin County. It also includes using job-producing federal stimulus money and a 2 percent metropolitan hospitality tax.
Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn. – The summer of 2010 marks the 50th year the Minnesota Twins and the Twins Community Fund have offered free youth baseball and softball clinics throughout the Upper Midwest.
To celebrate the milestone, the Twins Community Fund will offer 50 free clinics during the summer of 2010.

Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced that TwinsFest 2010 attracted 34,637 fans to the Metrodome, the second highest TwinsFest attendance in the event’s history. Attendance totals for TwinsFest 2010 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 29-31) are second only to 2007’s record attendance total of more than 35,000 attending the three-day event. Other recent TwinsFest attendance figures are as follows: 2009 – 31,004; 2008 – 30,483; 2006 – 25,000; 2005 – 29,000; 2004 – 23,000; and 2003 – 27,000. VIEW SLIDESHOW

The Minnesota Twins Baseball Club is soon to be 50 years old and during its 50th year in 2010 the Twins will be opening its third ballpark, Target Field. The first official Major League Baseball game will be against the Boston Red Sox on Monday, April 12, 2010.

Target Field is essentially completed, said to be two months ahead of construction. Workers can still be seen in the hallways, working on reshaping doors and also hanging or various displays. The new ballpark, located at Twins Way in Minneapolis just west of the Target Center, will indeed be a tourist attraction for years to come.

Meadow Creek Christian School has continued to grow throughout the years in many ways. On a recent Saturday night, there was another sign of how the Saints are showcasing the past while looking ahead to the future. During the 2010 Homecoming celebration, the school introduced its first Hall of Fame class.

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and David Vitter (R-LA) today (Monday, Feb. 1) introduced the Arresting Child Predators Act to improve the ability for three law enforcement agencies to catch child predators.
The bill would extend administrative subpoena authority to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS), the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) specifically in cases that involve child exploitation.
