Seventeen high school marching bands from Minnesota and Wisconsin will converge on Apple Valley on Saturday, Sept. 11, for the Eastview Marching Band Festival. The chilly wind did not affect the talk at the gubernatorial candidates’ forum at the Minnesota State Fair today (Friday, Sept. 3), which was lively, heated, aggressive. SEE SLIDESHOW
Republican Rep. Tom Emmer, Democrat former U.S. senator Mark Dayton, and Independence Party candidate Tom Horner appeared before several hundred people at the Minnesota Public Radio forum — the lively crowd applauded, jeered, booed the candidates as they fielded questions from the moderator and public.

Minneapolis, MN -- Minnesota Twins Hall of Famer Rod Carew will be roaming the Twins field once again, this time as a supporter in search of curing blood cancers.
Carew and Minnesota Twins President Dave St. Peter are determined to help build awareness of the approximate 913,000 people in the U.S. living with a blood cancer, and will show their support by participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Light The Night® Walk on September 26, 2010 at Target Field at 5 p.m.

“Firm step, follow through, trust your shoe.” Tiffany Syring has been hearing that phrase for as long as she can remember, having grown up in a family of accomplished horseshoe pitchers.
The St. Paul native has excelled in the sport from a young age, placing third in the junior world championships in 1993.
Now 34 and president of the horseshoe club in Forest Lake, Syring has found her way back to the sport’s forefront. After taking several years off from professional competition to raise a family, she reached the championship round of the World Horseshoe Pitching Championships in Cedar Rapids, IA last month.
