Anoka County Sheriff’s Office commander graduates from FBI Academy
Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Cmdr. Shelly Orlando recently was one of 230 students who graduated from the 265th class of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Orlando has worked in law enforcement for 22 years, all with the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office. She was promoted in October 2013 to commander of the Justice Services and Civil Process Division, which is in charge of security at the Anoka County Courthouse, prisoner transport, records and data entry and overseeing civil processes such as domestic orders for protection, harassment restraining orders, orders for seizure and mental health commitment orders.
It has been a goal of Orlando’s for some time to attend the FBI National Academy, and she is thankful that Sheriff James Stuart selected her as the one person from the Sheriff’s Office who would be in this class, she said. Students came from 47 states, the District of Columbia and 24 countries.
