A lawsuit over Elk River’s Pinewood Golf Course has been settled.

The Elk River City Council voted unanimously Monday to accept a settlement that it had initiated with Paul and Pamela Krause, who sold the course to the city in 2006.

Under the terms of the settlement, the city will pay the Krauses $1.55 million — which is approximately the balance that the city owed them to purchase the course. In exchange, the city will get the title to the golf course and the lawsuit will be dismissed.

Howard Roston, attorney for the Krauses, said, “We’re very pleased with the settlement and we’re looking forward to closing with the city and putting this matter behind us.”

He said they appreciate the city’s efforts in resolving the case. Paul Krause did not want to personally comment on the matter, Roston said.
