VIDEO: Blaine 1st-graders stand by Blair Walsh; Walsh says thanks for encouraging words
Learning about empathy, first-graders at Northpoint Elementary School, in Blaine, reached out to Vikings kicker Blair Walsh after his missed field goal attempt in the playoffs to let him know that they understand the sadness he must be feeling.
Kids drew pictures and wrote letters that their teachers will mail to Walsh.
“Hopefully he’ll get a kick out of it and know he’s got a good fan base,” said teacher Judie Offerdahl.
From Washington state, Offerdahl is a proud Seahawks fan, but watching the game Sunday, Jan. 10, “I knew that the kids would just be crushed,” she said.
A learning opportunity was born.
