Fostering Families: Bridging the gap in Chisago County area

Fostering Families Inc. may still be the new kid on the block, but don’t tell them that. This non-profit organization is hitting 2016 with a purpose.

Already assisting foster children in transition across Chisago County since October 2014, Fostering Families Inc. plans to expand to the surrounding areas as soon as its resources will allow.

Fostering Families is an organization aimed at helping meet foster children’s most basic needs, according to founder Michelle Anderson. These needs include clothing, winter gear, blankets, cribs and toys — anything a child needs to comfortably make the transition into foster living.

One of the main projects that Fostering Families has focused on is the creation of “JET Packs.”

“These are Journey Essential Transition Packs,” Anderson said, explaining the acronym. “They feature essential needs, such as clothing; it’s really part of the comfort that we are trying to provide.”
