The Knights of Columbus Marian Council outfitted nearly 100 youngsters 6 to 12 years old with new coats as part of its Coats for Kids program this fall.

Knight members donated $2,000 to buy the coats for youngsters from Catholic churches in Bloomington, Richfield, Edina and South Minneapolis.

Manuel Leon of Richfield, chair of the coat project, said this is the third year the council has given free new winter coats.
