Dayton visits Bayport to celebrate Andersen expansion
After weathering the recent recession, Andersen Corporation is thriving. That was the message CEO Jay Lund delivered alongside Gov. Mark Dayton and Congresswoman Betty McCollum at the company’s Bayport plant April 6, as he announced the anticipated creation of 300 new jobs in Minnesota.
“This is a special day for Andersen Corporation,” Lund told a group of public officials, employees and media.
In part, Lund was referring the official April 6 opening of a newly upgraded section of the Bayport facility — a roughly $18 million improvement to an existing building has enabled the plant to manufacture products for the Andersen 100 Series, a fast-growing line of windows and patio doors introduced in 2009.
But the event was more than a ribbon cutting. Lund also announced his company’s plan to invest $45 million in facilities and equipment for major expansions of its Cottage Grove and North Branch operations.
