Wright County turns back almost $4M in surplus
Wright County has a long history of turning money back from its annual budgets, as the county board and department heads close out at calendar year with their respective budgets. At the meeting of the Wright County Board, that trend continued.
Auditor-Treasurer Bob Hiivala presented the board with the final budget numbers, which should be a surplus of almost $4 million. The revenues came in at 99 percent of the 2014 budget ($96,342,790 of the $94.58 million budget), while expenditures came in at 95 percent ($92,437,162).
Hiivala said the county works hard during its budget process to try to establish a budget designed to be close to 100 percent, but several factors came into play that contributed to the $3,905,629 that was turned back to the county coffers.
