Pediatric Home Services announces recipients of Respiratory Therapy Scholarships
St. Paul, MN – Pediatric Home Service (PHS) has announced the recipients of its third annual Respiratory Therapy Scholarships.
The grand prize scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Aubrie Anderson, who is currently enrolled in the respiratory care program at St. Catherine’s University, St. Paul.
Two $500 scholarships were awarded to Laura Pomeroy and Tatiana Zwart, both students at University of Minnesota Rochester/Mayo School of Health Sciences.
“Being able to pursue a healthcare career in which it is your job to help people will allow me to have a life-long occupation that I will love,” said Anderson. “I truly appreciate this scholarship from PHS and feel honored to have been selected.”
The scholarships are awarded to students who currently attend, or have recently graduated from, a respiratory therapy school. This type of education is in line with one of Pediatric Home Services primary focuses – caring for people with heart and lung disorders.
“Our company is dedicated to promoting education and supporting respiratory therapists in our community, so we’re happy to assist those who may play a role in caring for our patients in the future,” said Derek Hustvet, Director of Respiratory Therapy at PHS. “We had an outstanding group of applicants this year, and we are excited to know these students are about to enter the field.”
A review committee of PHS respiratory therapists and supervisors reviewed the 12 applications received and selected candidates based on a variety of criteria, including transcripts, letters of recommendation, and essays describing why they chose a career in respiratory therapy.
