Nearly 44,000 people were left without power after a series of powerful thunderstorms swept through the south metro Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Golf ball-size hail was reported in Eden Prairie, which led to the vehicle damage exemplified by a picture posted on Twitter, and widely shared by media outlets, of an Eden Prairie Police car with its back window shattered by the hail.

Power was mostly restored by Wednesday morning, with small pockets of Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Edina and Richfield still reporting outages. – Joseph Palmersheim, Sun Current
