Klobuchar, AG Swanson to discuss legislative action to protect seniors
St. Paul, MN – On Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Senior Room at the West 7th Community Center in St. Paul, U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson will discuss legislative action to help protect seniors from neglect and abuse.
Last year Klobuchar introduced legislation—the Guardian Accountability and Senior Protection Act—to crack down on elder abuse by strengthening oversight and accountability for court-appointed guardians.
Similar legislation to help protect adults under the care of guardians and conservators is being introduced this week in Minnesota.
Klobuchar and Swanson will be joined by Anoka County Attorney Tony Palumbo and State Representative Debra Hilstrom, who coauthored the state legislation in the House.
