Small Business Saturday helps make a big difference
Burnsville, Minnesota – Small Business Saturday, which takes place on Saturday, Nov. 24 this year, is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses on the busiest shopping weekend of the year.
The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota (BBB) is working to spread awareness of the event and asking consumers to support small businesses in their area. Sandwiched between “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday,” Small Business Saturday is a perfect way to support the small businesses that you love, and perhaps discover some new ones, too.
This is the third year of Small Business Saturday. As a joining member, the BBB is teaming up with American Express OPEN to help spread the word on why small businesses are so important in our communities. Businesses can take advantage of some of the free tools offered online at www.facebook.com/SmallBusinessSaturday: free signage, free ads on Twitter, and lots of ideas to help attract new customers. There’s also something fun for American Express cardholders, as well. Beginning November 18, for a limited time, cardholders can enroll for a $25 statement credit which can only be used at qualifying businesses on Small Business Saturday. Enrollment is limited. Last year, more than one hundred million people came together to Shop Small in their communities on Small Business Saturday. Whether you’re a small business owner or a customer, you’ll want to encourage your friends to Shop Small. The more people and the more businesses that get involved, the bigger and more beneficial this day will be for the small shops and business owners that do so much for our communities and the economy.
The mission of the Better Business Bureau is to be the leader in building marketplace trust by promoting, through self-regulation, the highest standards of business ethics and conduct, and to instill confidence in responsible businesses through programs of education and action that inform, assist and protect the general public.
