Isanti County Historical Society breaks ground for new building

The Isanti County Historical Society board and its members held a ground breaking ceremony Thursday, Sept. 27, as the first step in rebuilding the ICHS Heritage Center.

The Isanti County Historical Society was totally destroyed by an arson fire on July 8, 2011.

The Heritage Center is being rebuilt on the footprint of the former building with an additional 500 square feet of archival storage. Curt Haugen, Clark Joslin, Erv Skaar, Mike Warring, Kathy McCully and Willis Dahlman (building committee) redesigned the interior to include an office and resource center, director’s office, conference room, banquet room, commercial kitchen and outside covered patio space. The Historical Society is planning on opening in spring 2013. Watch the progress at www.ichs.ws.
