Ramsey girl wins state figureskating championship
Samantha Lenart, a 14-year-old figure skater from Ramsey, has been competing on the ice since she was nine years old.
Sure, she’s won some competitions along the way, but Aug. 18 the incoming Anoka High School freshman won the biggest event of her life.
On that day Lenart took home her division’s championship prize when she competed in the Minnesota State Figure Skating Competition. With that win, Samantha is now considered to be the Minnesota State Open Pre-Juvenile Girls Champion, her mother said.
Skating five days each week during the school year – six days a week during the summer – Samantha puts in long hours on the ice to perfect her moves. See more in Sue Austreng’s ABC Newspapers story.
