Early Sunday morning fire destroys Elk River home

On Sunday, August 12, 2012, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Elk River Fire Department responded to a fully involved structure fire at the 18800 block of Zumbro Ave. NW in Elk River.

The initial call reported that there were possible persons unaccounted for. Fire and police arrived on-scene shortly after dispatch, confirming a working structure fire.

Thankfully, all occupants were quickly accounted for and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Unfortunately, one cat perished in the fast moving fire. Big Lake and Ramsey fire departments assisted at the scene. See more in Editor Jim Boyle’s Star News story.
