Former Isanti County Sheriff Mike Ammend dies at 67
Former Isanti County Sheriff Mike Ammend, 67, of Cambridge died unexpectedly on Friday, July 20, 2012 at the Cambridge Medical Center.
Ammend served as Isanti County Sheriff from 2002-09.
He was born June 8, 1945 in Minneapolis, to Eugene and Colleen (Hicks) Ammend. Mike lived a few years in Northeast Minneapolis before the family moved to Moundsview and he graduated from Moundsview High School in 1963. In June 1963 he entered the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in March 1967.
