Marine from Andover killed in Afghanistan
The U.S. Department of Defense announced this morning (Thursday, June 14) that Cpl. Taylor J. Baune, 21, of Andover died June 13 while conducting combat operations in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.
Baune was a 2009 graduate of Andover High School, according to an Anoka-Hennepin School District official.
Baune was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force based out of Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Baune enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on Sept. 4, 2008, according to a public affairs official with the 1st Marine Division.
