Free tax preparation services available to Minnesota military families

St. Paul, MN – U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar will be joined on Friday morning by federal and state tax officials to highlight a free online income tax preparation and e-filing service that is available to Minnesota military families, including the National Guard and Reserves, as well other low- and moderate-income families.

The event on Friday, March 30, at 10 a.m. will feature a briefing on “Free File,” an innovative partnership between the government and private tax software companies.   Free File helps individuals and families file their federal and state tax returns quickly, easily and for free.

After the briefing, join local community organizations for a tax training workshop to learn how easy it is to use a leading software product through Free File, talk with area residents and community leaders about the value of Free File and other free tax prep services in the Twin Cities, and learn more about current efforts to educate Minnesota families.

Learn about Free File at www.taxprephelp.org. To find out more and file your taxes for free, visit www.freefile.irs.gov or http://taxes.state.mn.us and click “Individual Income Tax,” then “Online services,” then “See if you qualify to e-file for free!”
