Snowmobile warning issued for Lake Marion in Lakeville
The extravagantly mild winter is catching up with those who like their winter recreation.
The City of Lakeville issued a warning to snowmobilers and fisherfolk interested in heading out on the ice on Lake Marion: Don’t. There are areas on the lake that are “very dangerous” with open water and thine ice.
“This is a very dangerous situation,” said Parks and Recreation Director Steve Michaud. “Right now, no one should be out snowmobiling on Lake Marion. People who have lived on the lake are usually aware of where the springs are, and where the ice can be thin. This year is different. There are thin patches or open water in unexpected areas. We want everyone to stay safe, so please, keep off the ice.” - – Aaron Vehling, Thisweek Newspapers
