Blaine curling just a stone’s throw away?

Blaine city leaders stood ready this week to take another shot at updated plans for a state-of-the-art Aquatore Park curling facility.

Fogerty Arena representatives were scheduled to present plans for a $3.2 million curling center Thursday during a council workshop.

In a Jan. 5 memo to council, Bob Therres, public services manager, stated that the curling facility proposal would require elimination of an athletic field.

“Fogerty Arena [representatives] have indicated the only way the curling expansion works is construction to the south of the existing facility,” Therres wrote. “[That] would eliminate one of the three lighted athletic fields in Aquatore Park.” See more in Editor Tim Hennagir’s ABC Newspapers story.
