House Republican demands apology
Rep. Mark Buesgens, R-Jordan, rose on the House floor to demand Democrats apologize for letting Education Minnesota President Tom Dooher sit at the table with legislators during a high-profile education reform meeting yesterday.
“What happened yesterday was an embarrassment to the body,” said Buesgens.
Buesgens called Dooher, teachers’ union president, a lobbyist and a foe to reform.
He wasn’t the only Republican who took issue with the seating arrangement at the meeting, another complaining that he wanted to attend the meeting and was told there wasn’t room at the table.
Democrats countered by saying the reform hearing wasn’t officially a hearing, but rather a meeting.
