Senate Republicans look to Sen. Foley's seat as a possible win
Among the seats Senate Republicans will look as possible pick-ups this election is Senate District 47 held by Sen. Leo Foley, DFL-Coon Rapids.
Senate Minority Leader David Senjem, R-Rochester, indicated Republican have hopes for the district. Senjem said that local city official Scott Schulte, who ran against Foley four years ago, is not interested in trying again.
Foley recently said he would seek reelection.
Another district Republicans will look at is Senate District 16 held by Sen. Lisa Fobbe, DFL-Zimmerman.
Senjem indicated seats held by freshmen DFL lawmakers are inviting races for Republicans to focus on.
The newest member of the Senate Republican caucus, Senator-elect Mike Parry, who won a special election prompted by the resignation of the colorful state senator Dick Day, will be sworn in on Thursday.
