Gubernatorial hopeful Dayton calls for legislative reforms
Former U.S. senator and DFL gubernatorial hopeful Mark Dayton has sent a letter to legislative leaders (including to another gubernatorial hopeful, House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher, DFL-Minneapolis), calling for a ban on Minnesota Pollution Control Agency staff from working on any project in the private sector for two years after leaving the agency that would be reviewed by state environmental agencies.
In his letter, Dayton argued the ban would be a first step against future abuse and restore the public’s confidence in the agency.
Dayton is reacting to a story in the Star Tribune detailing the relationships between former MPCA staff and the “polluting industries,” as Dayton describes them, that the MPCA is suppose to regulate.
