Former state auditor Pat Anderson files for office

Former Republican state auditor Pat Anderson filed today (July 15) in the governor’s race.

Anderson, 43, of Dellwood, has been actively campaigning for a number of weeks.

“I have a lot of support from the delegates,” said Anderson, pointing out that she is only announced Republican candidate who has successfully sought statewide elective office before.

“The next governor of Minnesota will face a $6-$7 billion structural deficit,” said Anderson in a press release.

“That’s a problem that can no longer be solved through temporary accounting shifts and unallotment. Arbitrarily cutting a little spending here and there won’t get the job done,” said Anderson.

“My approach to governance is all about reform,” she said in a press release.

Anderson recently joked that it was too bad the governor’s race started so early — not in August.

There will be no summer off next year, she said.
