Local Republican willing to place a dollar on Sviggum/Brod ticket
In talking Republican gubernatorial politics today (July 14), Rep. Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, explained that his dollar bet would be on a Sviggum/Brod gubernatorial ticket.
That is, former House Speaker Steve Sviggum of Kenyon teaming up with Rep. Laura Brod, R-New Prague.
Perhaps Sviggum could serve a term, and then let Brod run, Abeler suggested.
Abeler anticipates a good-sized herd of Republican gubernatorial candidates taking their candidacies into the state convention — he doesn’t expect many to drop out in upcoming weeks and months.
Candidates like Sen. Mike Jungbauer, R-East Bethel, are stubborn and not likely to quit early, he suggested.
The same can be said for other candidates, Abeler added.
