Independence Party urges donations before Pawlenty ends refund program
Independence Party (IP) Chairman Jack Uldrich encouraged supporters in an email today to contribute to the IP before Gov. Tim Pawlenty cuts the state’s political contribution refund program on the first of July.
Pawlenty yesterday styled the refund program nice but out of step with the budget picture.
The governor proposes to can the program for the next two years for a savings to the state of $10 million.
“The fact that the Republican governor and the DFL-controlled legislature couldn’t come up with a budget-balancing agreement this past session tells us that the common-sense wisdom of the Independence Party is needed in Minnesota now more than ever,” said Uldrich in the email.
