Pawlenty seems more receptive to bonding

Gov. Tim Pawlenty — at least to the ears of some Capitol reporters — seems to have soften his tones on bonding.

Asked about the Senate’s $367 bonding bill, the governor today (March 17) spoke of having a bonding bill that was affordable and targeted ready-to-go construction projects.

Pawlenty did mention wanting a bonding bill that wasn’t “porky,” and pointed to previously vetoed bonding items that have found their way into the Senate bill as example of pork.
But the governor’s attitude towards a bonding bill has changed.

Even within the last weeks administration officials spoke of having a bonding bill to cover costs associated with federal stimulus bill bonding.

No one was talking about a bonding bill anything like what the Senate has.

They seem to be now.
