Twins, Wild and more!

The song, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” was going through my head on my way into the office this morning, not only because the radio guy said to expect lows in the 30s tomorrow (55-60 degrees feels chilly nowdays), but the Twins season came to an end Tuesday night, paving the way for the VIkings and Wild to dominate the metro sports scene yet again.

Tuesday night’s game against the White Sox seemed to be right in line with the way many games have gone for the local nine. Great pitching followed by poor hitting, but at least we don’t have to watch another first-round exit. Maybe that’s looking at things a bit negative, but look at the recent history of the team, the team hasn’t lived up to its regular season play.

The Minnesota Wild announced today that the team will have a mascot for the 2008-09 season. This is the press release:
The National Hockey League’s (NHL) Minnesota Wild will unveil the team’s first-ever mascot on Sunday, Oct. 5 at approximately 4:00 p.m. during a public event at Xcel Energy Center. The mascot will be unveiled during a special on-ice ceremony beginning at 4:00 p.m. The team’s mascot will be targeted towards young fans, families and community events. Hot Tamales Wild Kids Club members will have a chance to skate and all fans that attend the event will have a chance to take a picture with the Wild’s new mascot. Other activities will include floor hockey, face painters and a movie. The event is open to the public and doors will open starting at 3:30 p.m.
