Rep. Jim Abeler could get endorsed by Republicans Thursday night in Anoka
Rep. Jim Abeler, R-Anoka, may finally get endorsed by his party after all.
Abler, one of the House Republican lawmakers who voted to override Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s veto of the transportation finance bill last session and got into hot political water for it, failed to be endorsed this spring and indeed faced a primary challenger.
Now Abeler reports that because of district party rules another endorsement convention will take place tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 25, at Fred Moore Middle School in Anoka at 7 p.m.
Abeler expressed hope that he would be endorsed.
“I don’t know how big of a dust up it could be,” he said.
Another Anoka County Republican House member who voted to override by governor — Rep. Kathy Tingelstad, R-Andover — decided not to seek reelection.
During last session Tingelstad opined that Democrats would win the open seat in her district.
