Moving on the hottest day of the year
Was I really surprised that the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency said this week will be hot and humid with an air pollution health advisory in effect? No. Not really considering I knew I had to move.
Yesterday I actually woke up at 7:30 a.m. to start packing up my car before going over to do the usual: sign the lease, pay the money, get the key.
When carrying bags of everything from clothes to dishes to ceramic monkey salt and pepper shakers, I noticed it was hot and the air was heavy.
But I was happy. Happy to be moving away from the U of M, and somewhat elated to the fact a day dubbed “Thirsty Thursday”
I have moved 20 times, that I can remember.
I can’t seem to stay in one spot either. Only 3 times has it been because I’ve moved to another city, otherwise it’s moving into new places within the same city…
It’s kinda like the quote from the movie Chocolat with Johnny Depp… something about the northwind blowing.. gotta move.
This will make you laugh Liz. I have not moved many times so I can’t even imagine all that moving! We moved when I was in the 4th grade and I’ve only moved twice as an adult. After getting married we bought a mobile home on 1 acre, what we could afford at the time. Then we got to where we could afford a house. While moving out of the trailer I was spotted crying in the hallway. When asked what was wrong I told my husband “I don’t want to move!” Guess I’ve never handled change very well. We moved into a rental house while our house was being built. We’ve been in our house ever since. I still tell people I haven’t recoverd from the last move. That was over 20 years ago!
