Two Republicans line up for shot at open Senate District 16 seat
Two Republicans have filed for the special election in Senate District 16 as of late Friday (July 18) afternoon — Alison Krueger of Big Lake and Jeff Holm of Baldwin Township.
Holm, 28-years-old, is a full-time St. Cloud State University student majoring in community development with a minor in economics.
He expects to complete his studies by the end of the fall semester, he said in an e-mail.
Holm works a laborer for Premier Exteriors in Princeton and serves on the Baldwin Township Board of Supervisors as vice chairman.
He has otherwise been politically active.
Alison Krueger is a resident of Big Lake — Sen. Betsy Wergin, R-Princeton, who is resigning her District 16 seat to serve on the Public Utilities Commission, said Krueger was politically active locally.
Attempts at contacting Krueger have failed.
No Democrats have yet filed for the open seat.
Monday is the last day of filing.
A special election primary will take place Sept. 9.
