A time when things were cheap

Remember when gas used to cost 89 cents a gallon?
Or what about when coffee was only $1?
And now it’s stamps. On May 12 the 41 cent stamp will go to 42 cents.
I know, I know. It’s only a penny. Not a big deal. Except that stamps just raised two cents around this same time last year.
And if it was only stamps increasing that’d be one thing, but it’s everything, everywhere that’s getting more expensive.
For example, I started driving in 2002, and at that time gas was 89 cents a gallon.
That meant $10 could fill up my bright purple 1986 Toyota pickup truck covered in stickers, one of which read “visualize grilled cheese.”
